Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir

Vacancy for a Musical Director

Owing to the retirement of the current Musical Director (MD), the Much Wenlock Male Voice Choir (MWMVC) is seeking to appoint a new MD to take up the role in early 2010.

This is a well-established choir that celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. With just under 40 members the choir presents an average of 12 concerts a year as well as participating in exchanges with other choirs to give programs of variety to suit differing occasions and venues. The choir has a mixed repertoire of religious pieces, folk songs, songs from shows, spirituals and modern compositions.

The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings at the William Brookes School, Much Wenlock.

The applicant will, ideally, have had previous experience with male voice choirs and have knowledge of MVC repertoire and be able to demonstrate good teaching and communication skills. The ability to work in harmony with the current team and choir is essential. The choir has a supportive committee who are keen to build a relationship with the new MD to plan musical programs for future events and to maintain the high standard set by the Choir’s previous musical director.

We are looking for an enthusiastic MD who will be committed to the long-term development of the choir. Remuneration will be by arrangement and agreement.

The successful applicant will be an ex-officio member of the choir executive committee and will work closely with that group.

Details of the choir’s history and activities can be found on www.mwmvchoir.org.uk.
