Vacancy for an accompanist
Following the appointment of our
accompanist to the post of MD we now wish to fill
the vacancy this has left.
We are a mixed voice choir of approx
35 voices and rehearse on Tuesday evenings from
7pm to 9pm during term time at Holmfirth High School. We
have a wide repertoire and each year aim to enter
the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival in Huddersfield
and possibly another competition (Whitby 2009),
give concerts and are available for weddings and
private functions.

Vacancy for Deputy Musical Director/Conductor
Applications are invited for the post of Deputy
MD/Conductor of our admired Male Voice Choir.
This well established award winning Male Voice
Choir from South Wales founded in 1958 seeks to
appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate
musician to fill the post of Deputy MD/Conductor
who is able to assist in the training and conducting
of the 40 choir members.
The choir has a reputation for an innovative repertoire
of variety and interest therefore good musicianship
is essential.
They perform regularly throughout South Wales
and travel the UK to concerts, competitions and
festivals and have toured extensively overseas
including Germany , Eire , Spain , Northern Ireland
, Canada & USA . They are also no strangers
to prestigious venues and in then past year performed
at the Wales Millennium Centre – Cardiff
, The Royal Albert Hall – London and the
world famous Carnegie Hall – New York City
.
This dynamic, forward-thinking choir is well regarded
and respected within the local choral arena and
is well-known for its quality singing and technical
ability, such is the popularity of the choir, bookings
are often taken up to two years in advance.
Its repertoire covers a wide range of styles and
genres from classical, operatic, religious, folk,
popular and modern as well as songs from the shows.
The Choir rehearses twice weekly in Maesteg and
is an efficiently run organisation who undertake
in excess of 20 engagements annually.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong
teaching and communication skill, with initiative
and enthusiasm, and have the ability to be creative
in their approach to choral music. They must be
proficient in reading music and have experience
with rehearsal technique and sight-reading. Whilst
an aptitude to accompany on the piano is useful
it is not essential. The ability to work in harmony
with the current Music Team and Choir is vital;
flexibility and adaptability are key features of
this role.
The choir has a supportive committee who are keen
to build a relationship with the Music Team and
be involved in planning the musical programme for
future events. The choir believes there is always
still much to achieve and with an enthusiastic,
dynamic leadership we can do this together.
The appointment of a Deputy MD/Conductor will
mean spreading the workload and therefore they
will be expected to attend a certain percentage
of engagements/rehearsals, consequently they will
be expected to keep up-to-date with the Choirs
current repertoire.
An attractive remuneration is on offer commensurate
with the applicant's experience and qualifications.
Initially, the post is for 2 years with a probationary
period of 6 months.

of paper, highlighting key details of your conducting
experience, musical leadership, and your approach
to directing male voice choir singing. We hope

Accompanist of our popular Male Voice Choir. This

Now in its 90th year the Felling
Male Voice Choir is established as an important
part of the musical life and cultural landscape
of the North East and beyond. With more than 70
members the choir presents an average of 15 concerts
each year as well as participating in competitions
and exchanges with other choirs.
The members of this famous and successful
choir wish to appoint a new Director of Music to
lead and inspire them. If you are an established
musician with experience of leading choral work
we would like to hear from you.
The members would also like to appoint
a well qualified and skilled Accompanist who is
equally at home in the rehearsal room and on stage.
The positions of Director of Music
to the choir and Accompanist are honorary ones
for which an honorarium is granted.
In addition to the above posts the members of the
choir would like to appoint an Associate Director
of Music to the music team to work with the Director
of Music and Deputy to develop and extend the range

for the choir.
The Eastwood Collieries’ Male Voice Choir
is an enthusiastic, fun-loving choir of around
seventy voices based in Eastwood in Nottinghamshire.

and typically has 10 to 20 engagements per year.
Formed in 1920, the choir is a registered charity
which continues to raise thousands of pounds for

to prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert
Hall in London , De Montfort Hall, Leicester and

famous band of Her Majesty’s Band of the
Blues and Royals in 2010 with a massed male voice

Basingstoke Male Voice Choir
Vacancy for Musical Director
Founded in 1964, BMVC is a choir
(60 choristers) of international repute.
Our Musical Director of 28 years, David ‘Dai’ Ogborn,
is retiring. Under his direction the choir has
built a varied repertoire. We have recently performed
with a military band, a youth orchestra, and other
choirs. We have also sung at weddings and to community
groups, averaging 12-15 concerts per year.
We rehearse on Monday evenings 7.30 – 9.30
in the United Reformed Church, which has fine acoustics,
located in the centre of Basingstoke town. Our
accompanist, of some 30 years, makes full use of
both the piano and organ.
We are looking for an enthusiastic MD who will
be committed to the long term development of the

West Barnes Singers seek Musical Director
Applications are invited for the position of Musical
Director of West Barnes Singers, based in the London
Borough of Merton, from 9th September 2009. Our
rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings, from

We are a friendly mixed choir, founded in 1972,
with about 60 members. We perform a wide

concerts a year, in November, December, April and
June, and hold an annual workshop day to study
and sing one of the works we will be performing.

Newport (Salop) and District Male Voice Choir
are seeking to recruit a new Musical Director for
September 2009 to replace John Naylor who has been
with the Choir for the last five years and inspired
us with his enthusiastic leadership and choral
expertise. We are looking for someone who
will build on the momentum he has achieved; someone
with ambition, enthusiasm and demonstrable qualities
of leadership and choral experience, preferably
with a good knowledge of Male Voice Choir repertoire
and tradition.
The Choir was formed in 1943. It has achieved
huge success in its sixty-five years, winning many
competitions, touring extensively, and giving about
twelve concerts yearly in Shropshire and further
afield in the UK. There are at present about
forty choristers. The accompanist, Vivian
Redfern, has been with the Choir for the past eleven
years and is an accomplished pianist. She
also acts as Choir Secretary. We have a very
wide-ranging repertoire, and perform with copies
to enable us to give concert programmes
of great variety, to suit differing occasions and
venues. We rehearse once a week on a Monday night
in the Parish rooms in Newport. The successful
candidate would receive an attractive remuneration.

We are currently looking for a Musical
Director. Sadly our previous M.D.had
to leave us due to ill health. We
found Tim Knight on the internet, and he very kindly
has stepped in to help us out, and to inject us
with his unique brand of humour and inspiration!
But only until the end of April, when we will be
on our own once again.
We would be happy to appoint
more than one M.D. if there are applicants
who wish to specialise in different forms of music.
This would also mean spreading the workload more
thinly!

Grassington, near Skipton, North Yorkshire. We

Rossendale Ladies Choir
Vacancy for Musical Director
The choir is seeking to appoint a new Musical
Director as from 1st April 2009.
It has 40 members with a reputation for a very
high standard performance
and is recognized as one of the top choirs in the
region and winners of
